Your Scout Elf has a green “Christmas” thumb. With a little watering and patience, they will grow full-size candy canes!


Materials:

  • Soft peppermint candies
  • Mini and full-sized candy canes

  • Crushed chocolate cookies
  • Mini watering tin

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf will tend to a candy cane garden. First, they will plant soft peppermint candies in crushed chocolate cookies (dirt) and water them with a mini watering tin.
  2. Soon, the soft peppermint candies will grow into mini candy canes before finally reaching full-sized candy canes!

Runway to Christmas

Materials:

  • String lights
  • Ground stakes

Instructions:

  1. Scout Elves love to make an entrance! Leave out a string of lights and ground stakes, and your elf will set up a brightly lit runway reminiscent of all the twinkling lights at the North Pole. Your Scout Elf will probably use ground stakes to outline a pathway, setting them about two feet apart.
  2. Then, your elf will take strands of lights and run them along the length of the pathway, securing them in place by attaching them to the ground stakes.
  3. Now, clear the runway, your elf is coming in for a landing!

Special Delivery

Materials:

  • An empty gift box

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf is bursting with excitement to show you this new hiding spot! After returning to your home from the North Pole, your Scout Elf will:
  2. Take an empty gift box and wrap it in festive paper.
  3. Cut a hole in the box, just big enough to pop out of.
  4. Present themselves as a surprise present under your Christmas tree!

Hot Cocoa Cookies


Materials:

  • Flat cookies
  • Icing
  • Large marshmallows
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Baking chocolate
  • Mini candy canes
  • Knife
  • Heart candies (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf will celebrate his or her love of cocoa in a new way today with these marshmallowy, chocolatey cookies that look just like a mug of hot chocolate!
  2. To make these cookies your elf will start by laying out the flat cookies of their choosing, and spreading icing on them (this is what your elf will use to hold the other ingredients in place).
  3. Once the icing is spread, your elf will press a large marshmallow firmly onto the cookie.
  4. Next, your elf will take the baking chocolate and melt it according to the package instructions. After letting it cool for a couple of minutes, your elf will carefully spoon the chocolate on the top of each marshmallow.
  5. While the chocolate is still warm, your elf will stick mini marshmallows on top of the chocolate.
  6. To create the handle, your elf will use a knife to cut off the curved part of a mini candy cane, and stick it into the side of the marshmallow.
  7. As a final finishing touch, your Scout Elf will add a heart candy to the front of each cookie to show you how much he or she loves hot cocoa—and your family!

That’s a Wrap!

It’s what’s on the inside that counts, but your Scout Elf knows that Christmas presents are even prettier when they come in festive paper! To put the finishing touches on their thoughtful gifts for friends and loved ones, your Scout Elf decided to host their very own gift wrapping party with the Good Tidings Gift Boxes and Convertible Christmas Tree from the book Scout Elves at Play® Paper Crafts.

In addition to perfecting his or her present presentation, your elf will leave out a note asking your family to get your gift wrapping done, too, by having a present wrapping party complete with snacks, pretty paper and decorative garnishes. That’s a wrap!

Crafty Stick Ornaments


Materials:

  • Craft sticks
  • Glue
  • Ribbon or string
  • Pom-poms
  • Scissors
  • Green marker

Instructions:

  1. To craft a mini tree ornament that looks perfect on your big tree, your Scout Elf will start by cutting craft sticks so that seven sticks stacked together create a tree shape. Your elf will also cut a small stump out of a craft stick.
  2. Next, your elf will use a green marker to color the sticks the perfect pine color.
  3. Using glue, your elf will glue together the seven sticks from largest to smallest, creating a triangular tree shape.
  4. With glue, your elf will attach the small stump to the bottom of the longest stick.
  5. To create an ornament hanger, your elf will use a piece of ribbon and glue each end to the back of the shortest stick, a.k.a. the top of the “tree.”
  6. Finally, your elf will trim the tree ornament with colorful pom-pom “ornaments”!

Crafty Christmas Angel


Materials:

  • Book
  • Ribbon
  • Wooden ball with a flat bottom
  • Mini snowflake decorations
  • Glue dots

Instructions:

  1. With a little crafting skill, your elf created a beautiful book angel that can brighten any book shelf all season long! To create the angel, your elf started by turning the book upside down and folding in the book’s very first page so that the top corner is touching the crease of the book.
  2. Your elf repeated this with the first fourth of the book’s pages.
  3. Keeping the book upside down, your elf will mimic the same action with the very last page of the book, continuing through the last fourth of the book’s pages.
  4. Next, your elf will turn the book right-side up and complete the exact same fold with the book’s remaining pages.
  5. To make the book look like an angel, your elf will fan out the middle pages of the book.
  6. For the angel’s head, your elf will use a glue dot to attach a wooden ball with a flat bottom to the book’s binding.
  7. As decoration, your elf will tie a ribbon just below the ball and attach mini snowflake decorations across the pages.

Christmas Card Wreath

All those merry wishes and festive designs on your Christmas cards will be proudly displayed when your elf decides to create a card wreath for you! After attaching cards to a wreath in your home with clothespins, your elf will leave a note asking your family to write your own Christmas cards to brighten the season for others. Whether to family members, those serving in the military, or neighbors, the cards you write are sure to spread Christmas cheer!

Jolly Gingerbread House


Materials:

  • 1 pack of multi-colored construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Glue
  • Holiday stickers

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf will leave you a jolly gingerbread surprise, but instead of actual sweets, gumdrops and icing, they wanted to show off their creativity! To craft their own gingerbread house, your elf will start by taping four square pieces of construction paper to the wall to make the house.
  2. To create the angled roof, your elf will take one additional piece of brown construction paper, cut it in half diagonally and place the pieces side by side atop the house.
  3. With a darker brown piece of construction paper, your elf will cut out windows and a doorway and attach them to the house with glue.
  4. Your elf will use white construction paper to cut out a scallop-edged for the roof, doorway and windows, and use glue to attach them to the house.
  5. To create window panes, your elf will attach two thin white strips of construction paper to the windows with glue.
  6. To decorate the house, your elf will cut out circles in various colors of construction paper to look like gumdrops and attach them to the doorway.
  7. Your elf will also use holiday stickers that look like peppermints and candy canes to adorn the sugary abode.
  8. Finally, your elf will leave a note and the remaining craft supplies and ask you to help make their gingerbread house a home by adding all the final decorative touches!

People-Friendly Pupcakes


Materials:

  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 8 oz. apple sauce
  • 1 ½ bananas, mashed
  • 8 oz. light cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp. peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • Large bowl
  • Muffin tin
  • Cupcake liners
  • Mixer
  • Oven
  • Elf Pets® Saint Bernard

Instructions:

  1. The more, the merrier—especially when it comes to sharing sweets! Your elf decided to help you and your favorite pups indulge in a yummy treat by mixing the first 8 ingredients for “pupcakes,” which any man, elf or Elf Pets® Saint Bernard can enjoy!
  2. Then, your elf will place cupcake papers in a muffin tin and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Your elf will start the recipe by mixing the first 8 ingredients for the pupcakes together in a bowl.
  4. After the ingredients are thoroughly combined, your elf will put the batter into the cupcake liners, leaving a ½ inch of space at the top (Helpful hint: the batter will not rise much).
  5. After baking about 12 minutes (or until a toothpick inserted into the pupcake comes out clean), your elf will let them cool.
  6. As they do, your elf will create the frosting by beating the softened cream cheese until fluffy, and then mixing in the peanut butter and honey.
  7. After icing each pupcake, your elf will invite everyone to dig in!
