French Christmas Traditions Shoes in Front of Fireplace

Our Scout Elf pals who have been adopted by families in France may help them with their Christmas traditions by finding a couple pairs of children’s shoes to put in front of the fireplace or Christmas tree! Similar to hanging stockings, French families leave shoes out for the Big Man in Red.


Materials:

  • Children’s shoes

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf friend will begin by quietly borrowing a couple pairs of shoes from kids’ closets.
  2. Next, they will place the shoes in front of a fireplace or Christmas tree.
  3. Lastly, your elf will make themselves cozy inside one of the shoes for kids to find them the next morning!

Mexican Christmas Traditions Pinata

One Christmas tradition in Mexico is oh-so-sweet! Scout Elf friends who have been adopted by families in Mexico may help make Christmas merry and bright with a pinata.


Materials:


Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf may begin by stepping into their MagiFreez® Cool Kicks Sneaker Trio!
  2. Next, they will find an elf-sized pinata and hang it from a cabinet knob or hook.
  3. Finally, they will take a swing at it! If they can’t get to the sweets inside, they may ask kids to join in the fun!

Instructions:

  1. To begin, your Scout Elf friend will cut the green paper or felt in the shape of a mini golf course.
  2. Then they will find the perfect candy cane to use to putt their mini golf ball.

Scout Elf Snow Sports

  1. Your Scout Elf will begin by taking a roll of paper towels and putting the open end at the highest point they can find (Pro tip: a couch or chair is best!).
  2. Then they will roll out a few paper towels until the bulk of the roll reaches the floor making sure to add pillows, towels or something else easily accessible for support underneath.

Garden Fairy

  2. Next, they will stage a garden scene and wait for you to find them among the mushrooms, flowers, elf-sized trees, and moss.

Elf Yourself

Materials:

  • Cardboard or poster board
  • Colorful construction paper
  • Adhesive
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. First, your Scout Elf will find a large piece of cardboard or poster board and cut a child-sized face hole in the middle.
  2. Next, they will cut red and white construction paper in their likeness and adhere it to the board.
  3. Finally, they will set up a photo station for silly Christmas pictures!

Silly Smiles

Say “candy-y-y-y”! 


Materials:

  • Color printer
  • Card stock/copy paper
  • Popsicle/crafting sticks
  • Toothpicks
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout will print and cut the silly smiles (elf-sized and child-sized).
  2. Next, they will adhere the printables to popsicle/crafting sticks for the child-sized smiles and toothpicks for the elf-sized smiles.
  3. Lastly, your elf will lay out the props for you to use in silly photos with them!

Spooky Scout Elf Headbands

Instructions:

  1. Your elf will begin by printing, cutting and laying out each of the templated pieces from the printable.
  2. Next, they will use construction paper in colors of their choosing and the printable templates to cut out each of the pieces used for each headband.
  3. Then they will glue or tape each of the pieces together as shown in the Scout Elf Halloween Headbands image above.
  4. Finally, they will adhere both ends of the headband together and place on their head to kick off All Hallows Eve!

Everything is topsy-turvy, but not for long because we’re officially halfway to Christmas! Leon Day is here, and even though it falls outside July, it’s a great way to kick off the sea-sun-al celebrations. Leon is “noel” spelled backward, and it marks the halfway point between the first of the year and Christmas Day. Today, wear your clothes backward, recite your ABCs starting with ‘Z’ and sing a Christmas carol starting from the end!

Time to go a’searching. Scout Elves hide clues for young and old so soon you’ll find a pot of gold!


Materials:

  • Small pot
  • Gold wrapped chocolate coins
  • Color printer
  • Card stock/paper
  • Printable

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf will hide clues around your home where prompted.
  2. The Scout Elf will then sit in the pot of gold waiting for you to solve the clues and find them at the end of the scavenger hunt.
  3. At the end of the scavenger hunt, the pot of gold can be safely moved to a different location. Be careful not to touch the Scout Elf!
