ABCs Breakfast

Ready to eat your ABCs? 


Elf Pets Ice Cream

Materials:

  • Chocolate and vanilla ice cream
  • Ice cream cones
  • Oval cookies
  • Pretzels
  • Yellow sprinkles
  • Black icing
  • Fruit tape
  • Chocolate taffy

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf will place three (one on each) scoops of ice cream onto sugar ice cream cones.
  2. Next, they will place pretzels on top of a chocolate scoop to look like reindeer antlers, oval shaped cookies on a vanilla scoop to look like Saint Bernard ears, and pointed cookie pieces on the second vanilla scoop to look like arctic fox ears.
  3. Then they will place black icing on each scoop to form a cute button nose and eyes.
  4. Lastly, your Scout Elf will use fruit tape and yellow icing to form Elf Pets collars and magic hearts.
  5. Your Scout Elf may add a flair of detail and form a Saint Bernard barrel from chocolate taffy and an Arctic Fox snow globe from a cookie!

Red & Green Lemonade

Materials:

  • Pink lemonade powder
  • Lemons
  • Mint leaves
  • Watermelon slices

Instructions:

  1. Your elf will prepare the lemonade according to the instructions.
  2. They will add sliced lemons, mint leaves and watermelon wedges to decorate and enhance the flavor.

Reindeer Sliders

Materials:

  • Hamburger patties
  • Buns
  • Your favorite slider toppings and condiments
  • Pretzels
  • Black olives
  • Sour cream

Instructions:

  1. First, your Scout Elf will lay out all of the slider toppings and buns.
  2. Next, they will grill the slider patties.
  3. Then the elf will put together the sliders according to how your family likes them!
  4. Finally, the Scout Elf will break pretzels in half and stick them in the top bun to look like reindeer antlers and use sour cream to attach black olive tips to look like eyes and a nose!

Snowman Fruit Salad 

Materials:

  • Three watermelons
  • Blueberries
  • Melon baller
  • Twigs
  • Small top hat
  • Scarf

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf will remove a thin slice from the side of each watermelon so it lays flat on the serving surface.
  2. Your elf will then carefully carve into the face-up side of two of the watermelons so they may scoop out the fruit with the melon baller.
  3. Once the melons are scooped down to the rind, your elf will pat dry the insides of the melon bowls before returning the melon balls and some blueberries to them.
  4. Your elf will use a few berries, halved, to form the snowman’s face atop the third watermelon.
  5. Finally, your Scout Elf will decorate the snowman with a scarf, top hat, and twigs!

Dog Days of Summer Treat

It’s never a “ruff” life with these sweet treats! These all natural pupsicles are sweet enough for your pet AND for you to enjoy as well!


Materials:

  • Paw print freezer mold
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 2 cups seedless watermelon pieces
  • ¾ cup plain Greek yogurt (NO artificial sweetener)
  • Blender

Instructions:

  1. To begin, your Scout Elf will place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until everything is smooth and thoroughly combined.
  2. Next, they will pour the mixture into silicone molds of paw prints that look just like the Elf Pets Saint Bernard and freeze for at least 3 hours. They could even pour this mixture into regular popsicle molds for kids as well!
  3. Finally, your elf will transfer these frozen treats over to a zipper bag for storage so they can serve them up all summer long to your favorite pup!

Feeling Lucky Flapjacks

St. Patrick's Day green pancake breakfast

Feeling lucky? Scout Elves are ready to bake!


Materials:

  • Your favorite pancake mix
  • Green food coloring
  • Whipped cream
  • Sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf will prepare the pancake mix according to directions and slowly stir in food coloring until the mix is the desired shade of St. Patrick’s Day green.
  2. Next, the elf will pour small scoops of batter onto a griddle and flip over each flapjack when it’s ready.
  3. Finally, your Scout Elf will top the finished flapjacks with sprinkles and whipped cream. Then they’ll wait for you to enjoy!

New Year’s Day Breakfast

No better way to “flip” the calendar to a new year than with a themed flapjack breakfast! Your Scout Elf will whip up this appetizing breakfast to begin a great year. 


Materials:

  • Pancakes prepared according to favorite recipe
  • Colored sugar and/or edible metallic sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. To celebrate the New Year, your elf will whip up four pancakes and cut them into number shapes.
  2. Your elf will decorate the pancakes with sparkly sprinkles. They’ll leave some for you to add too!
  3. Then, your elf will wait for you to join them for a fun breakfast to mark the start of a brand-new year.

Oh, snap! This elf created teensy weensy gingerbread houses for his Merry Mini Christmas friends.

Instructions:

  3. They will add embellishments to the festive scene with coconut shavings, mini marshmallows and mini lollipops.

Craving Hot Cocoa

To help you satisfy your sweet tooth, your Scout Elf brought back a new North Pole recipe for a big batch of hot cocoa! After assembling the chocolate-y treat, your elf will leave a note asking your family to grab a mug and top your cup of piping hot cocoa with a variety of fun ingredients, like sprinkles, whipped cream, chocolate chips and more. And of course, don’t forget the marshmallows!

Polar Pop-Tarts® Palace

With a Kellogg’s® Pop-Tarts® Crisps roof and delicious gumdrop embellishments, this gingerbread house is sure to be one of the most scrumptious the Scout Elves have ever made! Look for the elves on specially marked packs of Pop-Tarts® Crisps this season and then leave them out so your elf can create this fun idea.

Materials:

  • Gingerbread house kit or sheet of gingerbread dough
  • Pop-Tarts® Crisps
  • White icing
  • Toothpicks
  • Gumdrops
  • Other colorful candies

Instructions:

  1. Your elf will build the base for their Pop-Tarts® Crisps palace by assembling four gingerbread walls from a kit, or by baking and cutting out four walls from a sheet of gingerbread dough.
  2. To create a roof, your elf will lay five Pop-Tarts® Crisps across the top of the house so that they overlap slightly to look like roof shingles. To hold the crisps in place, your elf will use a combination of toothpicks and icing.
  3. Using white icing, your elf will add windows, a door and trim to the house.
  4. As a final festive touch, your elf will place gumdrops along the icing to make their new Polar Pop-Tarts® Palace feel like home!

Mini Milk and Cookies

Materials:

  • Cookie dough
  • 1 oz. glasses (the perfect size for a shot of milk!)
  • Straws
  • Knife

Instructions:

  1. Using the smallest drinking glasses they can find, your elf will create a small snack to show you how Scout Elves enjoy cookies at the North Pole!
  2. First, your elf will use cookie dough to create tiny elf-sized chocolate chip cookies and bake them according to the package instructions.
  3. Once the cookies are complete, your elf will use a knife to cut a small slit in the cookie so that it can be placed on the rim of the 1 oz. glass so they have a shot of milk to wash down the cookie.
  4. After pouring the milk and adding a festive straw, your elf is ready to show your family this fun-sized snack!

Strawberry Santa Hats


Materials:

  • Mini brownies
  • White icing or whipped cream
  • Strawberries
  • Scout Elves at Play® tools: Peppermint Grappling Hook, Candy Cane Cable and Holiday Harness

Instructions:

  1. The Scout Elves are Santa’s biggest fans, and your Scout Elf has created a tasty treat to pay homage to the big man in red! After cutting off the tops of the strawberries, your Scout Elf will be ready to assemble these sweet “Santa hats.”
  2. Your Scout Elf will use icing or whipped cream to attach the strawberry to the top of a mini brownie.
  3. For a finishing touch, your Scout Elf will squeeze a dollop of icing or whipped cream to the top of the strawberry.
  4. Holding steady with the Holiday Harness, your elf will dangle the Peppermint Grappling Hook by some Candy Cane Cable to reach for this sweet treat! (Helpful hint: the Holiday Harness works best on smooth surfaces, like mirrors or tile!)

Reindeer Chocolate Milk


Materials:

  • Clear mugs
  • Chocolate milk
  • Paper straws
  • Orange pom-poms
  • Googly eyes
  • Brown pipe cleaners
  • Tape
  • Scout Elves at Play® tools: Cheery Chair

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf will craft a cocoa treat that looks like the Elf Pets® Reindeer, the perfect touch for a morning meal or official North Pole Breakfast! To start, your elf will use brown pipe cleaners to create “antlers” by wrapping two smaller pieces of pipe cleaner (approximately 2 ½ inches long) around the top of one longer piece of pipe cleaner (approximately 5 inches long).
  2. Using tape, your Scout Elf will attach the “antlers,” as well as two googly eyes and an orange pom-pom “nose” to the clear mug.
  3. After filling each clear mug with hot cocoa, your elf will stick a straw in each and kneel on the Cheery Chair to take a sip!

Christmas Cereal Cupcakes

Enjoy a yummy cupcake with a red and green sugar cookie cereal topping, courtesy of the Scout Elves who thought of a new way to enjoy The Elf on the Shelf® Sugar Cookie Cereal (available at preferred Canadian and U.S. grocers)!

  1. First, your elf will frost plain vanilla cupcakes with white icing.
  2. Then, they will decorate the cupcakes by adding pieces of The Elf on the Shelf® Sugar Cookie Cereal as the perfect topping!

Sweet Wreath

Is every wreath created to hang on a door? Not necessarily. For an early a.m. surprise for her family, this Scout Elf created a pretty, taste-tempting wreath made of colorful fruit! It’s a simple, no-fuss recipe Scout Elves love preparing and it’s the perfect touch to any North Pole Breakfast.

Materials:

  • Kiwi slices, halved
  • Raspberries
  • Apple slices
  • Decorative plate

Instructions:

  1. To form a wreath, your elf will place kiwi slices in a circle on a decorative plate.
  2. Next, your elf will place raspberries on the kiwi wreath to add a splash of color.
  3. Finally, your elf will slice a red apple to create a bow and ribbon tails to decorate the wreath. Helpful hint: Keep the apples fresh by brushing them with lemon juice.

Snowy Pretzel Treats

Mrs. Claus’ exclusive designs for Claus Couture often inspire artistic expression in Scout Elves. These snowflake goodies are just as pretty and tasteful as the design on the Claus Couture Collection® Snowflake Skirt & Scarf.

Instructions:

  1. Your elf will line a baking sheet with wax paper.
  2. Next, your elf will dip pretzels, one pretzel at a time in the chocolate (letting the excess drip into the bowl), and will arrange them in a snowflake pattern on wax paper on a baking sheet.
  3. Then your elf will sprinkle each snowflake with blue decorator sugar and refrigerate for 2 hours or until candy coating is firm.
  4. Finally, your elf will leave a note on the Scout Elf Message Card.

Elf Pets® Breakfast Party

Your Scout Elf is back and thrilled to celebrate their return with an official North Pole Breakfast, aka a yummy breakfast bash. Ready to play chef, your Scout Elf will whip up adorable kid-size pancakes honoring their Elf Pets® pals.

Materials:

  • Your elf’s favorite pancake batter, mixed and prepared according to package or recipe directions
  • Seedless red grapes
  • Raspberries
  • Your elf’s favorite whipped cream
  • Chocolate chips
  • Kiwi slices

Instructions:

  1. Instructions for the reindeer pancake: For the reindeer face, your elf will whip up one pancake about 4 inches in diameter and another about 2 inches in diameter plus two spherical shapes for the ears and six elongated shapes for the antlers. As shown in the picture, your elf will assemble the pancake pieces to form a reindeer head and use chocolate chips for the mouth, a grape for the nose and a dollop of whipped cream topped with one chocolate chip for the eye.
  2. Instructions for the Saint Bernard pancake: For the Saint Bernard face, your elf will whip up one pancake about 4 inches in diameter and another about 2 inches in diameter plus two spherical shapes for the ears. As shown in the picture, your elf will assemble the pancake pieces to form a Saint Bernard head and use grapes for the eyes and nose, chocolate chips for the mouth and a raspberry for the tongue.
  3. Optional decoration: To add a cheery touch to every plate, your elf will top kiwi slices with raspberries.

Hot Cocoa Cookies


Materials:

  • Flat cookies
  • Icing
  • Large marshmallows
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Baking chocolate
  • Mini candy canes
  • Knife
  • Heart candies (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Your Scout Elf will celebrate his or her love of cocoa in a new way today with these marshmallowy, chocolatey cookies that look just like a mug of hot chocolate!
  2. To make these cookies your elf will start by laying out the flat cookies of their choosing, and spreading icing on them (this is what your elf will use to hold the other ingredients in place).
  3. Once the icing is spread, your elf will press a large marshmallow firmly onto the cookie.
  4. Next, your elf will take the baking chocolate and melt it according to the package instructions. After letting it cool for a couple of minutes, your elf will carefully spoon the chocolate on the top of each marshmallow.
  5. While the chocolate is still warm, your elf will stick mini marshmallows on top of the chocolate.
  6. To create the handle, your elf will use a knife to cut off the curved part of a mini candy cane, and stick it into the side of the marshmallow.
  7. As a final finishing touch, your Scout Elf will add a heart candy to the front of each cookie to show you how much he or she loves hot cocoa—and your family!

Pupcakes


Materials:

  • Cupcakes
  • White frosting
  • Chocolate icing
  • Small oval-shaped cookies
  • Candy eyeballs (available at most craft stores)
  • Brown candy-coated chocolates
  • Pink chewing gum
  • Frustum-shaped milk chocolates
  • Yellow gumdrops
  • Red ribbon
  • Toothpicks
  • Precision knife

Instructions:

  1. There’s only one thing better than cupcakes—pupcakes made to look like the Elf Pets® Saint Bernard! Your Scout Elf will start to craft these special treats by frosting the tops of the cupcakes with white frosting.
  2. Using chocolate icing, your Scout Elf will create two identical oval-shaped spots the cupcakes, leaving a white strip in between.
  3. Next, your Scout Elf will stick two oval-shaped cookies on each iced spot to make the pup’s “ears.”
  4. Your Scout Elf will place two of the candy eyeballs on the edge of the spots a little more than halfway up the cupcake.
  5. Just below the eyes, your Scout Elf will place a brown candy-coated chocolate as a “nose.”
  6. Your Scout Elf will use the chocolate icing to draw a mouth that connects to the nose and curves out on both sides.
  7. At the spot where the “mouth” curves outward, your Scout Elf will place a bubblegum “tongue” made by flattening sticks of pink bubble gum and using as precision knife to cut small oval-shaped tongues that have one flat side.
  8. To create the Saint Bernard pup’s barrel, your Scout Elf will use chocolate icing to connect the two larger sides of two frustum-shaped milk chocolates (bucket-shaped chocolate treats with caramel in the center).
  9. To create the barrel’s heart charm, your Scout Elf will flatten a yellow gumdrop and cut small heart shapes using the precision knife.
  10. After connecting the heart charm to the barrel using chocolate icing, your Scout Elf will attach the entire barrel to the cupcake using toothpicks.
  11. Your Scout Elf will tie a red ribbon around the base of the cupcake as the Saint Bernard’s collar, and place the cupcakes out for you to “woof” down!
