Deck the halls with DIY Christmas decorations! The Elf on the Shelf® Scout Elf helpers have prepared four of the easiest craft ideas that kids will LOVE and will also make your home feel merry and bright! Make garland out of wrapping paper, ornaments out of tinfoil and two more adorable, easy crafts that will keep kids feeling creative and entertained.
The Elf on the Shelf Christmas Tree

“I decorated your Christmas tree. Now we’re twins!”
Materials:
- Christmas tree
- Wrapping paper
- Glue sticks or dots
- Scissors
Instructions:
- To begin, your elf will gather up some unused gift-wrapping paper and scissors.
- Next, they will cut a large triangle from red wrapping paper and one longer rectangular strip of white wrapping paper to create the hat.
- Then, they will cut two large white circles, two medium blue or brown circles and two black circles then glue or tape them together to make the eyes.
- After that, your elf will cut one oval shape to create the nose and one sickle shape for the mouth.
- Next, they will cut 5-6 white triangles and tape or glue them together on each end to create a collar.
- Finally, they will use glue dots or tape to stick all of this to the tree and show off their likeness!

Wrapping Paper Garland

Scout Elf tip #315: Decorating can be easy, fun and FREE!
Materials:
- Wrapping paper
- Glue or glue dots
- Scissors
- Tape
Instructions:
- First, your Scout Elf pal will find some unused or leftover wrapping paper.
- Second, they will fold the wrapping paper as many times as they can, accordion style.
- Third, they will draw a shape (like a gingerbread man or star) on one end of the folded wrapping paper making sure to line their drawing up with the closest folded edge.
- Fourth, they will use scissors to cut out their drawing making sure not to cut through the folded edge.
- Finally, they will unfold their folded wrapping paper drawing to unveil the most elftastic DIY garland to hang on the hearth, on a stair railing, on the Christmas tree or any other perfect spot in your home!

DIY Tinfoil Star Ornaments

“Who says Christmas stars can only go on top of the tree?”
Materials:
- Aluminum foil
- Cardstock or cardboard
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Ribbon
- Tape or glue dots
Instructions:
- Your Scout Elf will begin this idea by gathering cardstock or cardboard from an old box and drawing large stars.
- Next, they will use scissors to cut out their stars.
- Then they will take strips of aluminum foil (they like it because it’s sooo shiny) and wrap them around their paper or cardboard stars until the strips mold to the stars perfectly!
- Finally, they will tape a 4–5-inch loop of ribbon on one point of each star and hang them on the Christmas tree as an inexpensive and quick decoration!

DIY Pinecone Ornaments

The prettiest pines you ever did see.
Materials:
- Pinecones
- Glue
- Ribbon
- Pom-poms, glitter, sequins, etc.
Instructions:
- To begin, your Scout Elf friend will gather up smaller-sized pinecones.
- Next, they will find pom-poms, glitter, sequins, beads, etc. and glue them to their pinecones to make them look a little more festive!
- Then they will take 4-5 inches of ribbon or string to glue, or tie a piece to each pinecone to make it into an ornament.
- Finally, they will hang these ornaments on the Christmas tree. Maybe they’ll even leave out their supplies so kids can make their own!
