February Birthday Party Ideas for Kids

Throw a birthday bash inspired by Valentine’s Day for all your February babies! The holiday known for exchanging gifts, cards and flowers presents a great opportunity for kids to show appreciation for their friends, and everyone will fall head over heels for your divine party planning!

  • To Eat: For an easy birthday party-friendly main course, make homemade cheese pizzas covered with heart shaped pepperonis. Stack pepperonis on top of each other, and cut them with a small heart shaped cookie cutter. For dessert, serve up slices of cake with colorful ice cream hearts on the side. To make the hearts, freeze ice cream in a 3 inch deep pan. Then, use a cookie cutter to create the treats. Don’t forget conversation hearts, the easiest way to add a decorative touch.

  • To Do: Play a matching game! To start, cut hearts out of construction paper, and then, cut them in half. On each piece of the heart, write one of two words that make a pair such as salt and pepper or peanut butter and jelly. Then, let kids move around the room trying to find the other side to their heart!
Appeal to older children by writing each word on a smaller paper heart, and place all the pairs in a hat. Have children draw a word out of a hat without looking, and use tape to attach it to their forehead. Do this for each child, and then have kids mingle around the room asking one another yes or no questions until they find both their identity as well as the other person who has the word that matches theirs!

  • Party Favors: Send each guest home with a heart shaped cookie or a conversation heart-topped cupcake. Attach a small label to each that reads, “You’re such a sweet friend!”, “Happy Valentine’s Day!” or “How sweet of you to drop by!”
