Start-Of-The-Year Classroom Ideas

Easy classroom ideas are here to start the school year off with lots of good cheer! Scout Elves are ready to encourage students to learn in a fun and engaging environment. Enjoy these quick and easy ideas with items that are already in your classroom! 

Here to Say “Hi!”

Classroom Scout Elves are here to say “Hi!” and encourage students to study hard just like the elves do at Scout Elf School! 

Materials:

  • Color printer
  • Cardstock/copy paper
  • Printable
  • Scissors
  • Optional – various school supplies

Instructions:

  1. Your classroom elf will print, cut out, and place the printable out for students to see.
  2. Finally, they will visit with your classroom all day long to study along with their favorite students!

Reading Corner

Your Scout Elf is here to encourage students’ reading by creating a reading corner!  

Materials:

  • 10 to 15 children’s books 

Instructions:

  1. Your classroom Scout Elf will stand the reading books up and place them in two rows to form a right angle.  
  2. Next, they will place themselves in the center of the reading corner and invite students to read along with them!

Silly Board Message

Your Scout Elf is here to hang with the coolest students! 

Materials:

  • Dry erase board 
  • Dry erase markers

Instructions:

  1. First, your classroom Scout Elf will find the dry erase markers. 
  2. Next, they will write a silly message about their arrival on the dry erase board.  
  3. Finally, the elf will hang from the dry erase board to bring joy and mischief all school-day long!

Swinging In, Hanging Out

Just swingin’ in to watch you learn!

Materials:

  • Paper clips 
  • Suction cup with hook 
  • Color printer
  • Cardstock/copy paper
  • Printable
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. First, your classroom Scout Elf will print, cut, and adhere the printable to window. 
  2. Next, the elf will link paper clips together to form a long chain. 
  3. Then they’ll attach the suction cup with hook to a window and link the paper clip chain onto the hook. 
  4. Finally, they will hang out for a while to see what they can learn from your class!
