Back-to-School Craft: Clothespin Snack Bag Clips

Your favorite high-flying Christmas pals, the Scout Elves, are buzzing with excitement to share their newest creation: clothespin snack bag clips shaped like adorable flying creatures! Perfect for adding creative flair to school lunches or snack time at home, these clothespin crafts are as cute as they are useful. Clip a bumblebee, butterfly or dragonfly clothespin to a bag filled with snacks to surprise during lunch or snack time!

You’ll Need:

  • Clothespins
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaners (various colors including black and yellow)
  • Markers or paint (various colors including black and yellow)
  • Glitter glue (optional)
  • Snack bags
  • Multiple snacks of your choosing

Instructions:

Bumble bee clothespin craft

Buzzing Bumblebee
  1. Use black and yellow paint or markers to draw stripes imitating a bumblebee on a clothespin.
  2. Cut one black pipe cleaner in half to create antennae, and glue them to the back of the clothespin. Wrap a small piece of yellow pipe cleaner around the top.
  3. Glue two googly eyes onto the clothespin.
  4. Fill a bag with any snack of your choice. Helpful hint: The Scout Elves chose popcorn.
  5. Use the bumblebee clothespin to clip the bag in the middle, creating two wings.
  6. Little ones will be buzzing with excitement at the fun, snack time surprise!

Butterfly clothespin craft

Beautiful Butterfly
  1. Use two different colors of paint or markers to draw stripes, polka dots or any design of your choice on a clothespin.
  2. Pick a colorful pipe cleaner, and cut it in half to create antennae. Glue the antennae to the back of the clothespin. Helpful hint: Curl the edges to give this creature a different look!
  3. Glue two googly eyes onto the clothespin.
  4. Use a marker to draw a mouth.
  5. Fill a bag with a snack of your choice. Helpful hint: The Scout Elves chose two different snacks: fruit gummies and snack mix.
  6. Use the butterfly clothespin to clip the bag in the middle, creating wings with two snack options.
  7. Brighten up a lunch box with this beautiful butterfly, giving kids a sweet surprise!

Dragonfly clothespin craft

Darling Dragonfly
  1. Use paint, markers or glitter glue to decorate a clothespin.
  2. Pick four pipe cleaners (two of one color and two of another color), and fold each pipe cleaner in half, creating a loop.
  3. Glue the four loops onto the clothespin, creating two figure eight shapes for wings.
  4. Glue on two googly eyes.
  5. Fill a bag with different snacks. Helpful hint: The Scout Elves chose green grapes and animal crackers.
  6. Use the dragonfly clothespin to clip the bag in the middle.
  7. Place this darling dragonfly in your little one’s bookbag, or at their in-home work station, and snack time will instantly become more exciting!
